Shelter Improvement for Vulnerable Children

At EAPC Mwatundo CDC, we recognize that a safe and stable home is essential for a child’s growth, health, and well-being. Many of the vulnerable children we serve live in inadequate housing conditions that expose them to health risks, insecurity, and emotional distress. Through our Shelter Improvement Program, we are restoring dignity and safety to families in need.

Our shelter support focuses on improving living conditions for the most vulnerable households by:

  • Repairing leaking roofs and damaged walls
  • Replacing unsafe mud structures with stronger materials
  • Installing secure doors and windows
  • Improving flooring to reduce health risks
  • Constructing simple, safe housing units for families in extreme need

These improvements create a secure environment where children can sleep safely, study comfortably, and grow with confidence.

Unsafe shelter often increases vulnerability to illness, abuse, and school dropout. By strengthening homes, we help:

  • Reduce exposure to harsh weather conditions
  • Lower the risk of preventable diseases
  • Improve privacy and protection
  • Enhance children’s ability to focus on school

Through shelter improvement, we are not just repairing houses — we are rebuilding hope. Children benefit from improved health, better school attendance, and renewed dignity within their communities.
